AllStar Node / repeater radios

Steve,
Yes, I have done some repairs / mods on the Tait T800 series 1 modules.
I did not know Tait took that stance on narrow band only.
The T800 Series 1 modules are getting a little old.

Steve,

Do you do your own repairs to the Tait radios? I have a Tait repeater.
Their USA headquarters is about a mile from my home. I took the repeater
to them for repair, and they flat out do not work on anything of theirs
that is not now narrow band. No exceptions period, not even for
amateurs. That sucks, no compassion for us hams.

Tait T800 RF modules are excellent radios for use on Dstar and Allstar as they have no DSP audio processing. Flat modulation and discriminator are easily available on these units.

Tait probably wont touch anything WB nowadays because of the FCC rules mandating narrow banding on VHF and UHF. they simply don't want the liability of some customer has an old wide band radio and uses it on commercial frequencies.

Even though there is exemptions for part 97 Amateur radio. They just don't want the hassle.
