I am a newbie. Which is better? Supermon or Allscan.

Allmon, AllScan and Supermon are all general node management / “dashboard” web apps that allow nodes to be connected, disconnected, and other commands to be executed. Allmon was the first of these and is mainly used for monitoring and controlling one or multiple nodes that you own or manage.
Supermon then extended Allmon with some additional commands and enhancements, but at this point it is somewhat out-of-date eg. not mobile-browser friendly. Allmon3 brought things up-to-date and has a clean, “modern” GUI, though can require multiple clicks and popup boxes to do basic functions. ASL3 can also use the Cockpit web interface to simplify some node management functions.
AllScan is mainly used for managing favorites ie. other nodes such as repeaters or hubs. With AllScan you can connect/disconnect or add/remove nodes from your favorites file(s) quickly and easily, and it integrates the ASL statistics API to show real-time status of your favorite nodes.
If you are a repeater/hub admin who wants to manage your own nodes Allmon or Supermon is really all you need, but if you like to talk on a lot of other nodes then you will find that AllScan makes that very easy to do.
These are all easy to install, Allmon or AllScan can be set up in less than 10 minutes, or for Supermon maybe 15 or 20 minutes.
