Alinco DR-135

URIx Now Repeating Fine But Only Carrier Squelch Mode
Hello all.

I know I have seen a few threads on using the DR-135 as a node radio so I decided to ask this question.

Has anyone using this radio had problems with a crackling noise or popping noise when the radio transmits?

It doesn’t matter if you are using the data port (for audio) or the mike and speaker jacks.

Its not all the time but happens more than it doesn’t.

Thanks for any input into this matter.

I would note that the DR135 has now been replaced by DR135Mk3 which has some substantial changes to the modulation circuit.

But I am curious if the radio makes the noises when you transmit with no audio?

If you overdrive the URI you will get some nasty noises. One way to do this is putting the PL and voice on the same output channel. In that case the two gain controls (txtone & txvoice) must add up to something less than 1000, as noted in the knowledge base.

Ken

I have had several DR-135Mkiii and 235s and 435s all with the same audio problem on TX and RX. It seems that when the radio gets hot too many time is starts happening. Worse on higher power.

Ouch

I run mine on medium or low power and have a big fan on top of each one …

Maybe that is why I don’t hear anything bad

Ok thanks for the info.

I guess Alinco didn’t really have a fix for that then if it’s happening in the MK3’s.

I think the one I have is MK2, not sure.

Anyway, Ill deal with this radio until I get some more commercial radios, which I would rather use anyway.

Thanks again all so far and if anyone else comments and

Happy New Year to everyone in the group.
