Add a Simple Screen & Hardware Controls for AllstarLink3

I’ve created software to support the ultra-low-cost screen and button combo available from Aliexpress at about $5. This creates a rudimentary control panel for an ASL3 node.

This screen shows real-time node connection status and the buttons provide connect and disconnect functionality for a short list of favorite stations. The software is fully open-source.

This enables autonomous control of the node without the need to use a browser etc. but will work alongside any other control methods such as Allmon and DTMF

Looks pretty sweet. Did I miss info on sourcing the enclosure?

Hi, the enclosure and the RLN-Z2 is not yet available. This article covers the software and adding a screen to any existing ASL3 node.

I will be doing a project on this for the YouTube channel soon. Gotta order some parts. Feel free to give me pointers either on my Discord or by email kd5fmu@gmail.com

This is pretty cool. I just gave my button screen to a friend for his project. He gave me a 3.5 inch touch screen in trade. Could it be done with the 3.5 Nextion touch screen?

It can probably be done with any screen that can be attached to a Pi. I don’t have the screen or the skills probably, but the code is open source so feel free to get folks involved to enhance it to work with other screens.

Yeah this looks like a fund little project. I am already running ASL3 and I have some 1” screens but they don’t have any buttons. Hoping to get just the display side working and might even be able to add some buttons seperate to the screen to maintain the same functions.
