Asterisk Version: 22.5.2+asl3-3.6.3-1.deb13
ASL3 Version: 3.6.3
I get 5 seconds of blank carrier at the start of each of my voice announcements.
Is there a way of reducing this please?

Voice announcements for what? Internal telemetry? Audio files you've created outside of app_rpt?
Thanks for the reply.
It is the voice responses to commands e.g. *70 and the voice announcements of incoming connections. I am not using audio files that I have created outside of app_rpt.

What value do you have set for the telemwait = variable in your /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf file?
I have telemwait = 200
[68101](node-main)
statpost_url = http://stats.allstarlink.org/uhandler
duplex = 0
hangtime = 0
rxchannel = SimpleUSB/68101
archivedir = /var/www/html/nodelogs/
archivedatefmt = %d%m%Y%H%M%S
archiveaudio = no
connpgm = /etc/asterisk/myscripts/conlog.sh
discpgm = /etc/asterisk/myscripts/dislog.sh
telemwait = 200
unkeywait = 200

In the template rpt.conf file we have :
hangtime = 2000 ; squelch tail hang time (in ms) (optional, default 5 seconds, 5000 ms)
Your configuration has :
hangtime = 0
Your hangtime = 0 setting is effectively saying "I want the default hang time value" that just happens to be 5000ms (5s). If you really want to eliminate the hang time just set a small but non-zero value.
Good to know - thanks. Changed it to 200(ms). Rebooted.
I still have the 5 seconds of blank carrier?

What variables/values do you have in your [wait-times-main] and [wait-times] stanzas?
Also, what are in connpgm and discpgm? If these delays are limited to linking/unlinking commands, those could be tying up the system?
This is whatI have at the moment:
wait-times-main
; This section allows wait times for telemetry events to be adjusted
; A section for wait times can be defined for every repeater
telemwait = 10000 ; Time to wait before sending most telemetry
idwait = 500 ; Time to wait before starting ID
unkeywait = 30000 ; Time to wait after unkey before sending CT's and link telemetry
calltermwait = 30000 ; Time to wait before announcing "call terminated"
[wait-times_hd]
; Sample for half-duplex
telemwait = 10000 ; Time to wait before sending most telemetry
idwait = 100 ; Time to wait before starting ID
unkeywait = 30000 ; Time to wait after unkey before sending CT's and link telemetry
calltermwait = 30000 ; Time to wait before announcing "call terminated"
connpgm and discpgm run simple scripts to do basic logging of connects and disconnects
, with time stamps, to a text file.
The node is an RF link into a local wide-area 70cm repeater. I don't have any courtesy
tones or IDs enabled and I use telemdefault = 2 (timed telemetry output on command execution
and for a short time thereafter.) How long is "a short time" ?
