20240802 - Package Updates - Beta Channel

As previously posted, we continue to release updates to the ASL3 project. We start off sharing these updates with our developers, then to the “beta” package channel for those who want to test fixes to their problems or get the “latest and greatest” as quickly as possible. When we believe that the changes are OK for all we push them out to the production channel.

Before opting to install the “beta” (or “devel”) packages we ask that you carefully read Beta Testing about the caveats and potential pitfalls of beta packages.

The following ASL3 packages are now available from the “beta” channel with highlights of the changes:

ASL3-Asterisk 20.9.1+asl3-3.0.4-1

  • Allow faster morse speed issue #367
  • app_rpt: Deadlock when starting autopatch call issue #257
  • app_rpt: Correct 5 digit node lookup from 4 digit node pr #372
  • Increase timeout in app_rpt of HTTP-based registrations issue #352
  • Hangtime present on beacon ID issue #365

asl3-menu v1.7

  • ASL backups should include additional files issue #44
  • Add “Restart” option to the expert config menu pr #47
  • Menu improvements issue #51

These packages are planned for promotion to production/main during the week of August 3rd absent any issues or problems with them.

Again, please see Beta Testing for information on how to use package software and the caveats and warnings about beta test software.

Sincerely,
AllStarLink

Thanks, I’m happy to see #367. Since 2010 I have been compiling my own ASL/app_rpt/asterisk to allow 30 wpm. Two reasons, 20wpm is painfully slow and ASL morse at these slower speeds really sounds clunky. Also, my repeaters are all Quantar or MSF which do my “legal” ID, sans PL tone so no user has to hear that 20wpm ID. So now the only thing on my ASL3 wish list is to make remote base work again though there I would still probably roll my own to allow the remote radio to go to any frequency it is capable of not just ham bands.

Did you do any setting changes to make the Quantar ID w/o PL? I definitely remember my MSFs IDing without PL unless you click the mic (then it adds it) but I've never seen a Quantar work that way; it always seemed to default to send PL with the CW ID. If there's a setting I've missed, I'm all ears...

No, as it sits they ID with no pl. I don't know of a setting for it actually. All three Quantars just do it that way
