I had some time to experiment today with different PL settings, and the results are somewhat surprising!
AllStar USBradio.conf PL settings. I did some experimentation, with the results below.
DE=txctcssdefault, RX-rxctcssfreqs, TX=txctcssfreqs.
1] DE=110.9, RX + TX=141.3 A] Use 141.3, decode 141.3 - Repeater transmits ONLY 141.3 on receive, and BOTH 110.9 + 141.4 during tail and telemetry; B] Use 110.9, decode 110.9 - no repeater key, on tail and telemetry repeater is transmitting BOTH 110.9 + 141.3.
2] DE=141.3, RX + TX=110.9. A] Use 110.9, decode 110.9 - Repeater transmits ONLY 110.9 on receive, and BOTH 110.9 + 141.4 during tail and telemetry; B] Use 141.3, decode 141.3 - no repeater key, on tail and telemetry repeater is transmitting BOTH 110.9 + 141.3.

Now we try dual TX/RX tones:
3] DE=141.3, RX + TX=110.9,141.3 A] Use 141.3 - Repeater transmits ONLY 141.3 during key, and ONLY 141.3 on tail and telemetry. B] Use 110.9 - Repeater transmits BOTH 110.9 and 141.3 during keyup and ONLY 141.3 on tail and telemetry
4] DE=110.9, RX + TX=110.9,141.3 A] Use 110.9 - Repeater transmits BOTH 110.9 and 141.3 on key and on tail and telemetry. B] Use 141.3 - Repeater transmits ONLY 141.3 during keyup and BOTH 110.9 and 141.3 on tail and telemetry
INTERESTING: In step ’ 3 ', using the DEFAULT tone the repeater only transmits the DEFAULT tone, and using the ALTERNATE tone the repeater transmits BOTH tones when keyed, and the DEFAULT on tail and telemetry. This is what I would expect.
In step ’ 4 ', using the DEFAULT tone the repeater transmits BOTH tones, and using the alternate tone the repeater transmits ONLY the alternate tone when keyed, and BOTH tones on tail and telemetry.
This is unexpected and curious.
To me, step 3 and 4 should result in opposite results, but that is NOT the case?
