Simplex node frequencies

Good Morning,

For setting up a simplex node, does one need to work with (in US, here) the local/regional repeater coordinator?

NOPE it’s SIMPLEX not a REPEATER

If your state or region has designated simplex frequencies it might be a good idea to at least check to see what simplex channels they have designated.

In Tennessee the people responsable for coordination are here:

https://sera.org/index.php/home/sera-districts/sera-districts-tn/

If you want to check from them I suggest that you conntact one of the 5 people listed on that page to have the info from the horse mouth

In most cases yes as the frequency your node is on should be coordinated so as to avoid any interference issues. In some areas though the local band plan sets aside predesignated frequencies for simplex nodes. The bottom line is that it’s safer to ask the local coordinator for guidance as in most cases they coordinate more than just repeaters but are generally the group that helps work out interference disputes when they come up and help avoid them in the first place by doing local band planning and coordination of emitters across the entire band.
