I have a working public node. I have added a private node (e.g. 1995) on the same raspberry pi/rpt.conf.
I have the radio@ 127.0.0.1:port specified for both the public and private nodes in rpt.conf but cannot connect from the public to the private nodes (or vice versa). When trying to connect from the public to the private node it says “not in database” on supermon.
Am I missing a step that allows the public one to know where to find the private one?
Since a private node, by definition, is not in the node database, every tool is going to have some form of "Not in Database" or "Private Node" message. In Allmon3, that's why the ability exists to label private nodes by hand.
No. I am using HamVoip (at the time I setup my network, I was having issues when ASL couldn't handle 200+ connections my network without crashing - a timing issue which I understand has now been addressed which I was happy to hear.)
But having setup many nodes I have never setup a private node before (this is for Hams Over IP to connect to the private node - that part works). Yet I don't see how it would be any different but somehow I cannot connect to it.
I appreciate the ongoing suggestions and insight. Thx.
1995|yourcallsign|description for what you want|city, state,or country
make sure you have a blank lineunder it then CTL-X, Y to save and hit enter
Then make sure to run /usr/local/sbin/astdb.php to update the node list then you can refresh your supermon screen.
Thanks all. I finally got the connection working after I fixed issues with the dial plan in extensions.conf and I got the privatenodes.txt database entry done.
It was the help the group here that got me there.
The Canada Hub is now live with Hams Over IP extension 15191!
