I have an old (around 2015 or so) Pi node and the case has the following label on it.
42535/4569/222.
42535 is my node number
4569 is the UDP number
Any idea what is/as the meaning of the 222?

Probably the SSH port # (HamVOIP systems suggested using the non-default port)
It’s that SSH port number.
Weirdos. As if nmap can't find it there...
Security through obscurity never works. Especially when there's services like Shodan that have a mapping of every public-facing port on the Internet. The only people it hurts are users.
there are far more unsophisticated probes by kiddies looking for a thrill than professionals using Shodan for specific reasons
I never bought the argument obscurity was still good in a layered ipsec defense. Unless one thinks "toilet paper" is a good security layer.
Censys, Shodan, etc. save a pile of time for purposes both good and evil. ![]()
