Node 54681 Not Registering

Hi,
After a fresh install of ASL, my node is not registering.
I have tried all of these things:

With these results:

  • When I go into the Asterisk CLI and try to connect from iaxrpt or zoiper I get errors of No registration for peer ‘iaxrpt’ and No registration for peer ‘iax-client’, respectively.
  • I can ping allstarlink.org.
  • rpt_extnodes is in /var/lib/asterisk.
  • My node number and password are correct in /etc/asterisk/iax.conf for registration, iaxrpt, and iaxclient.

What other things can I check or try?

I found that special characters are not allowed in passwords. Given that current password policies strongly encourage or even require special characters in passwords, it is astounding that the special character prohibition is not expressed in the instructions, the installation dialogs, or the FAQs.

Once I removed the offending character my registration was successful.

You may have fixed the issue because your node is registered, and has been for an hour. Just in case there is still a connection issue with iaxRPT, I’ve found that can happen when asterisk is unhappy. You could have an unrelated issue, perhaps in rpt.conf.
