Nice to meet you.
Yes, JU551 should be set to position B in the radio. This gives you de-emphasised audio on pin 11 of the accessory connector.
You should be able to follow the instructions provided with the cable for programming the radio correctly.
You can use the simple simpleusb channel driver with my cable.
With the instructions provided you should be able to get your node up and running.
If not, send me an email directly and I will try and help you out.

Marshall,
I just realized that I bought your cable on ebay (Harold Fitzgerald….nickname Marty). I got it today and am starting all over from scratch.
Using your cable I move JU551 to B.
I am installing “RPi2-3-4_V1.6-01_Allstar” image on a RPI 3B+ .
I have a DMK URIxB with EEPROM. I’m told that the EEPROM is inside.
Any advice after that? Remember I am starting all over with a fresh install.

Marty, Okay, first question. You are using the following setup on the Motorola M120 and JU551 set to A. This gives you flat receiver audio on pin 11. URI 20 to Radius 7 URI 21 to Radius 11 URI 22 to Radius 5 URI 1 to Radius 3 Then you say in simpleusb.conf channel driver and you have set C…

Marty,
Okay, first question.
You are using the following setup on the Motorola M120 and JU551 set to A.
This gives you flat receiver audio on pin 11.
URI 20 to Radius 7
URI 21 to Radius 11
URI 22 to Radius 5
URI 1 to Radius 3
Then you say in simpleusb.conf channel driver and you have set COS and CTCSS to NO. So you are not using a signal to go from the radio to URI.
How are you getting COS or CTCSS signal to tell the simpleusb channel driver that there is a receiver signal present?
In my mind this configuration would not work.
You would need to use the usbradio.conf channel driver to let the DSP generate COS or CTCSS logic in the software.
Try using the usbradio channel driver and setup your node using the radio-tune-menu.
See if you have better luck with that.

Marshall,
Using a Motorola M120. Jumper JU551 set to A. Using a URIxB.
Uri20 =Radius7
Uri21=Radius11
Uri22=Radius5
Uri1=Radius3
COS/CTCSS in Simple usb set to no.
Have tried this combination
Uri20 =Radius7
Uri21=Radius11
Uri22=Radius2
Uri1=Radius3
Uri8=Radius8
COS/CTCSS in Simple usb set to invert and also tried non-invert and combinations of those.

Harold,
How about giving us the pin numbers you are using so we can check to make sure you are using the right pins?

I also want to mention it’s a good idea to disable the Rx CTCSS when troubleshooting a new install… lessens the confusion substantially.

@W5MF,
Earlier you said:
W5MF:
Test tones via via simpleusb-tune-menu does not produce any audio out.
So I thought you’re having a transmit problem. But this
W5MF:
test on the rx audio from the radio and I definately have receive there.
indicates you tested the receive side.
