New setup AllStarLink

I don’t know how to respond. Guess I’ll just stand down and stop at this point. Don’t understand how to fix the problem IF it occurs again. Sorry I wasted the time and bandwidth to try to solve it.

PSA :

For those trying to install ASL3 from scratch, the instructions in the ASL3 Manual : RPi Installation should "just work". If you run into issues, as @k5nes has reported, we'll be happy to "try" to help you out.

For those who are looking to upgrade from an older version of ASL3 to the latest, you should know that you do not need to start from scratch with a new SD card. We have upgrade instructions in the ASL3 Manual : Updating.

I have tried about 8 SD cards some new, some usedn most are the "EXTREME" 32 GIG CARDS and some are normal cards.

"Should" is the operative term I experienced that several times, but at this point I just want to know if anyone has gotten the new release image to work primarily having wifi lan run upon a new boot up on the new image.

For those following along ...

I have one Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W (that's paired with a SHARI PiZero). That server/node has been running ASL3 just fine for a long long time.

But, given the recent reports, I :

  • Grabbed a new PNY SD card off the shelf
  • Launched the latest version of the Raspberry Pi Imager app (v1.9.4) on my Mac desktop
  • Flashed a copy of the ASL3 RPi image (3.0.18)
  • Inserted the SD card into the RPi Zero 2 W and powered it up
  • Waited a few minutes for the initial boot

And all is good ... FOR ME!

But, I also took a look at the recently reported issues on the Raspberry Pi Imager app. There, I found Issue #1067 with reports from a few having issues with the latest version. The workaround for some has been to use an older version of the app (v1.8.5). If you are having Wi-Fi issues and want to give this a try you will find the older versions of the app available at downloads.raspberrypi.org.

p.s. Raspberry Pi Imager v1.9.4 came out just two weeks ago

Question? Is there a requirement now to have your node number included in the "set hostname" field of Edit settings?

Absolutely not. You can name the system whatever you like. We've been trying to use node63001 in our documentation as a good example and to provide some consistency.

This may be a clue. "Sudo asterisk -rv" im getting
"Warning757" res_rpt_http_registerations.c curl_post: could not resolve host: register .allstarlink.org followed by several other simnlar lines having to do with allstarlink.org.

Im going to assume from this that these issues are a result of not being able to communicate with the allstarlink server because if lack of an internet connection.

Coy, please start a new thread detailing your issues.
You have hijacked this one and it can be confusing to anyone and not really helping anyone.

I am sorry, i saw the first post and thought it looked like the issue that im having.... I will do as you say.

Thank you for posting this, it is very helpful to me. Your conclusions are valid and helpful. Sorry for your troubles, but I am glad I'm not the only one!

Yea, well, I have started a new thread (maybe) or atleast I tried and started over. At this point Im asumming that someone has dropped their bubble gum into the image and gotten it all gumed up. Looks like someone broke what wasn't broken.
