I have also been getting reports from friends on this that they too
are seeing this problem.
This looks like something is not happy either at or behind the load balancer.
We made a bunch of optimizations that increase performance. One of the side-effects of that is that now we're running into conditions where bursts of traffic - we're not sure if it's legitimate or malicious - keep starving out all of the PHP processing threads until we restart them. Unclear if it's a bug in the updated code or misbehaving nodes that now can impact something or another cause entirely.
Overall, stats.allstarlink.org has far far outgrown its original design and needs to be rethought entirely. But, we're trying to fix the acute problem first. However stats isn't essential to the operation of ASL and doesn't affect usability, connections, registration, etc. It's a 'nice to have' service.
