Linking an ICOM RP-4010 to AllStar

Is anyone using an ICOM RP-4010 with AllStar?

Hello @aa5kd,
Welcome to the AllStar Community.

Does that repeater have external connections for TX & RX audio, PTT, and COS/CTCSS?

That's a D-Star repeater, correct? I'd guess you'd have to run it in analog only for AllStar.

If you’re trying to strictly link digital to digital then just take the DISC OUT audio (it’ll be digital) and feed it to ‘Allstar’s’ RX AUDIO (node x) from that rptr and then on the other rptr (node y) TX AUDIO into AF IN.

node x. Node y

DISC OUT to. AF IN

AF IN. to. DISC OUT

I haven’t used that repeater…I’ve used the Icom fr-5000/6000 with asl3 and currently do digital to analog and vice versa on 2 different nodes.

In my case, because I have to use AF OUT in order to do digital to analog and send it over the internet to my other node, I have to use a higher sampling codec (slin) to minimize audio fidelity loss or else it doesn’t sound as good when the digital audio is heard on an analog (FM) transmission. ALSO, I have to use usbradio because it provides a fuller fidelity than simpleusb.

If I were to do strictly digital to digital I’d feed DISC OUT on both nodes with presumably no loss in audio quality…but I haven’t tried that. I might try it tho.
