Kenwood TM-V7A as agile remote base

I’ve read that the hamvoip has hamlib, and the v7a is one of them that can be controlled. I have 1 with a bad screen and would like to make it as a frequency agile remote base. Is there someone that has done this with that radio and can give me some info about it? Also would I be able to use the same pi that my node is currently on or would I need another complete setup?

Why dont you go and ask them support?

Ask them?! I’m posting on here which is me asking “them”
Not exactly sure about your response

Some of you must realize that not everyone knows the difference.
David, just for your information, Hamvoip and Allstarlink are NOT
the same. IF you have a problem with “their” (Hamvoip) software,
you need to go to their website and ask.

Yes I knew that and I totally forgot I’m sorry. Thank you for being cordial about it. Have a good weekend

The HamVoIP guys (David more so than Doug) do come on here from time to time and answer questions.

you can install hamlib on the ASL distro but using it, even on HamVoIP is clunky.

Why would using hamlib under asl Or hamvoip be clunky? With the proper scripting asterisk should be able to give correct prompting and pass the input digits to hamlib.
