iaxRPT on Win10 and a massive headache

I am quite befuddled at this point.

Have had iaxRPT running on my nodes for quite sometime and I have a couple Win10 laptops that work just fine with it. Never a problem.

Buddy is getting ready to go on some extended travels and wanted to use iaxRPT to connect with my node and stay in touch.

Can not get it to work on his laptop. Can not get audio to his speakers. Shows on iaxRPT VU but can not get it to speakers.

Yes, audio per app is turned up in settings.

Second issue, will not key up anything on network. PTT goes red but nothing else happens. Looking at Asterisk CLI on my node see no activity at all when he tries to transmit. He is another city so we have been doing this via phone and Teamviewer.

All of his settings match the ones that I'm using on my Win10 machine as far as I can see.

Have tried running as administrator, compatibility mode and turning firewall off for giggles.

Probably something really stupid, but I'm overlooking it.

Hope one of our resident gurus may have an idea.

Going to go take a couple Tylenol's now.

Ed W8VT

Have you tried Zoiper?

Thanks,

Are you sure IAXRPT client is pointing to the mic and speakers? Are mic and speakers default sound devices?

It is. The level is also turned up in the 'app volume and sound device preferences". Pointing at same device as the browser which will play youtube audio through speakers nicely.

The other problem with it not keying things up or showing any activity on Asterisk CLI with PTT is vaguely familiar. Had something like that long time ago and just can't remember the details.

Comparing his settings with mine, can't find any differences. Got to be something really stupid I'm just not seeing.

BTW, have played with Zoiper in the past, not too impressed.

Funny- I was just about to make the same post…

Just put in a new Win10 Machine in the office. I have IAX running fine on 2 other laptops and my desktop at work. I cannot get this machine to work. Same problem, I can see the VU moving, no audio, but I can get audio from the program itself (like hitting the connect button when it’s already connected gives you a ‘bonk’ noise).

I have matched settings from the laptop sitting right next to it, played with the audio devices, etc, no joy. Also does not key up the node. Connected to the exact same network switch, same router, etc.

I have seen this recently as well. If you don’t have the proper devices selected, push to talk will not engage even though it shows it is. Go through and make sure you have the right device selected. Another thing to consider is that your devices may be disabled via device manager. I had to enable the Microsoft sound mapper on a windows surface for a friend just the other day.

Zoiper has no PTT. Vox or dtmf operation would be required.
But as I mentioned in another reply, I had seen this just the other day. Make sure the driver is actually enabled, and be sure you are sleeting the right device. It might seem correct but it may not be the correct one. Also try using the windows 10 sound troubleshooter which will go through and check some things for you. After all of that I got it working.
I think I ended up using soundmapper and USB mic.

Zoiper: VOX + MIC(on/off) = PTT (effectively)
