Thanks Tom, I have seen these directories before “/etc/asterisk/” but I can’t remember now where to find them.

If you use PuTTY again and when the Admin Menu list appears select 9 Start Bash Shell interface. From the prompt (looks like a DOS window) you can type sudo nano /etc/asterisk/iax.conf. nano is one of the text file editors in linux. This should bring up the contents of the iax.conf and you can check the password.

To Exit nano just press CTRL and X. If you need to make changes to the file, let me know and I will guide you through this. Suggest you also download WinSCP. This has a Windows interface and it makes it easier to edit files on the Raspberry Pi.

sudo nano /etc/asterisk/iax.conf. (Just to confirm there a space between sudo and nano and the file path/name)

Thank you so much Tom for your time and patience with my problem. I couldn’t do it with puTTy but I found WinSCP and that made things much simpler. The password in iax.conf file was just random characters, I don’t know why. I changed it and saved the file and re-started the node and it is all working fine now. Thank you so much for your help.

The default passwords issued by [allstarlink.org](http://allstarlink.org) are a random set of 12 hex characters. So typlically you would see something like;
register = (greater than symbol) [58642:ab6fd45effdc@register.allstarlink.org](mailto:58642:ab6fd45effdc@register.allstarlink.org)
I chose a random password pattern for the above example. But this should be the same password as shown when you login to the [allstarlink.org](http://allstarlink.org) website and check the node password under the portal nodes menu. Anyway, glad it is all working now.
