How permanent is "permanent" supposed to be?

Do permanent connects ever “give up”? If so (based on a timer or counter), is there a way to extend their attempts?

In my experience it can reset to the “default” if the server is reset so it must be initialized (startup) to the desired state. No timer that I am aware of.

I get that but it seems to me if things aren’t rebooted, the connection should keep trying. In my case, I have a startup macro that connects my private hub to multiple private nodes,“permanently”. What I’ve noticed is if a node connection is lost, it isn’t always reconnected and I have to manually intervene
